Claire Quin

Claire QuinClaire graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Occupational Therapy) from the Auckland University of Technology in 2004.

Following graduation Claire spent a year working in mental health at Te Whare Toi Aroha, in South Auckland, a day programme, which provides short term, intensive support to 12 adult clients who are experiencing an exacerbation of symptoms, or a relapse in their mental illness. Working with one of New Zealand's largest and most culturally diverse populations, this gave Claire the opportunity to work within a vibrant community, rich in diversity.

Claire worked with clients with a range of diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive episodes, psychosis, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic disorder. A variety of models were used including; the Recovery Model, Strengths Model and CBT.

Within six months she was made Team Leader, supervising a multi disciplinary staff of four health professionals and 12 clients. She was responsible for the day to day running of the service and during her time as Team Leader, Claire and revised and developed new procedures in the workplace.

Claire returned to her home province of Taranaki in 2005 and joined Therapy Works as an Occupational Therapy provider. She has a special interest in pain management issues.

Claire is continuing with postgraduate education at the Auckland University of Technology and is currently working towards her MHSc(OT).
